Bulk Comment Remove 1.0

The Lowdown: Well from time to time the spammers get creative and manage to bypass everything and enter a bunch of spam comments and you need a quick and easy way to remove them. Well this is it simply install activate this plugin and go to tool menu select it and remove all comments that are currently awaiting approval.

Core Control 1.1

The lowdown Although this plugin is old it still was useful for some quick diagnosis. Ok recently I had to help a client fix some usability issues due to his hosting provider being unreasonable in its usage allowance and well that’s a story for my new podcast.. Anyway I was looking for more ways to control things in the WordPress website and this plugin offered some ways in which you can control many aspects of the website.  You get the ability to disable problematic file system methods WordPress is using for upgrades You get the ability to disable the upgrades module completely sometimes this is useful, you can track the http module logging all outgoing http requests And a cron module another way to check on the cron jobs that are scheduled and need dealing with or deleted.

Holiday Message 1.1

The lowdown: Ok well its that time of year again time to decorate your website and pass along some cheer. This plugin does that very nicely simply install choose your graphic and the your message and it pops up on your site for your visitors to see.

Better Avatars

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/better-avatars/Requires: 3.3 or higher Compatible up to: 3.5 Last Updated: 2012-12-2 Downloads: 146 When Gravatar has no image on file for a user, this plugin takes over and searches for a Facebook, Twitter, or Gmail profile picture to use in it's place. Marcus’ Take: I really dislike Gravitars more and more. This helps to use a more common image source to use for someone’s picture. Rating: 4 out of 5 —

Interstitial Ads

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/interstitial-ads/Requires: 3.0 or higher Compatible up to: 3.4.2 Last Updated: 2012-12-6 Downloads: 34 Interstitial Ads is an easy to use ads manager for a full page ad that appears before the actual webpage. Ads that appear in a separate (‘pop up') window while a webpage is loading, or are inserted between the contents of the page. Features:

  • Full page ads that gets noticed
  • Use image ads or text ads (Flash, HTML, Images, Videos, Audio, Embed Code etc.)
  • Timer can be enabled/disabled
  • Close/Skip button can be enabled/disabled
  • Impression: view counter
  • Wait timer
  • One time per user.
  • Page control allows you to set on all pages/homepage or just on custom pages
  • Multilanguage Backend/Frontend support
  • Support customize colors
  • Support for cache plugins (WP Super Cache and W3 or W3 Total Cache)

Marcus’ Take: This plugin gives you an ability that only the big guys previously had. We’ve all seen interstitial ads, and now you can give one to your site or that of your client. I found this to be a fantastic plugin with a lot of functionality and performance. Rating: 5 out of 5 —

Front End Theme Switcher

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/frontend-theme-switcher/ Requires: 3.4 or higher Compatible up to: 3.4.2 Last Updated: 2012-12-6 Downloads: 33 The front-end theme switcher displays a permanent hovering dropdown selection box with your available themes as selections. Visitors to your blog can select their preferred theme. Also suitable for theme demonstrations and blog configurations in different layouts. A live demo can be seen at classyfrieds.com Marcus’ Take: This is a real easy way to show off different themes, or try a few variants with a client design. You can even use it purely for the sake of allowing the viewer to pick how they want the site to look. Very cool plugin with a lot of different possibilities. Rating: 5 out of 5
