Today's plugins includes a couple here that I am using in active development so ratings are not complete but I thought it would be great to share these for you developers out there who wish to experiment with something new.

FFF-Cron-Manager 0.7

The Lowdown:
We yesterday I had my server seem to explode and start just loading up for no apparent reason and it was driving me nuts. As I got it under control I noticed that for some reason most of my WP sites were running numerous cron jobs so I wanted a simple way to view those jobs and kill them if necessary. This plugin provides just just a feature. Install it and then you will see a list of all the cron jobs for your site with the option to remove them.
Rating 4 Dragons.

Domain Mapping System 1.3

The Lowdown:
Well since I seem to watch TV too much or sleep too much I thought I would work on a new Idea for my websites, not going to spill the beans just yet but this plugin is part of that.
What it does is allow you to map domains on your single install of wordpress for any domains you may have parked. This will allow you to create sections of your site for specific domains without the need for MU install. as I am in development I am still working out the bugs but so far so good check this one out

Rating right now 3 dragons

GYS Themed Categories 2.5

The Lowdown:
This login goes with the one previously and what it allow you to do is use a completely different them on a per category basis. So far I have found it to work pretty well with a minor exception if a post is in more than one category it get confused when the posts displays, if it is trying to be shown in the category the theme is not assigned to it seems to break. i am still working through this but so far so good. I think this is going to help me bring this idea I have to completion.

Apply with LinkedIn buttons

Requires: 2.8.0 or higher
Compatible up to: 3.4.2
Last Updated: 2012-11-16

Easily add “Apply with LinkedIn” buttons to your posts and lets you customize them.

Marcus’ Take: I used this for a client that had a “careers” section of their company site. This did the trick nicely.

Follow Nofollow Control

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/follow-nofollow-control/

Requires: 2.8 or higher
Compatible up to: 3.4.2
Last Updated: 2012-11-12

You can set default to all your external links on your posts are follow or nofollow. You can exclude some domains you want. If you have trouble, please go to the Plugin Site.
With this plugin, you can:

  • set all external links are nofollow
  • set all external links are nofollow except some domain you choose
  • set all external links are follow
  • set all external links are follow except some domain you choose

Marcus’ Take:
With so much focus on links within Google these days, I’ve taken on a complete nofollow policy with many of the links that are outgoing on my sites. This plugin lets you nofollow everything with the exception of your designated white list.

WP Getting Started

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-getting-started/

Replace WordPress' Welcome Panel with a simple but effective walkthrough

Requires: 3.4.2 or higher
Compatible up to: 3.5beta2
Last Updated: 2012-11-10
Downloads: 113

WP Getting Started replaces the WordPress Welcome Panel (the one you see on the Dashboard after a fresh WP installation) with a simple 4 step walkthrough: choose and/or customize your theme, add pages and add posts.

At every page in the walkthrough, users get a short explanation of what they are doing – for example what the difference between a page and a post is. When they have completed a step, they are automatically taken back to the walkthrough on the Dashboard.
WP Getting Started is fully compatible with multisite networks, to give new users an easier introduction to the WordPress admin interface, and is no more intrusive than the original Welcome Panel in WordPress (further explanations only show up when the user follows the links from WP Getting Started).

Marcus’ Take: This is a great new way to get non-WP users up to speed quickly. I only wish there was more customization of the tutorials.
